Car keys, the simple little things that you can’t leave home without - at least if you want to travel in your car…
…the little bundles of joy that are ever so easy to lose, but it’s a good job that that garage gives you two!
The other day I lost my spare key, or at least discovered that it was not where it should be. Not a problem I thought, I’ll give the garage a call and get a spare - simple.
Two quotes, each for around £280 - for a damn key!
The price is broken down into £60 for the blade and £70 for the remote. The rest of the cost is programming and labour! Good Lord, no wonder Jesus walked across water then drove a Nissan!
At this point in life, panic clearly sets in as Blighty is a truely expensive place to lose your spare keys. A year or so ago, I was looking to move but it all fell through. The upshot was that my entire loft was boxed up. Imagine about 80 x 30-60 litre crates with lids in, this is where all the stuff for the entire household went. There was a remote possibility that the spare key was in one of those!
I guess good fortune, luck and the money fairies were smiling down on me. In the second (random) box I looked in, I found the spare - and - it still worked!
I cannot believe how expensive replacement keys are - this weekend I have a program to ensure that I have replacements for -every- key in the house…
